
KRAFTON, Inc. announced that 17Gaming was the winner of PUBG’s Global Series 1 (PGS 1). The Grand Finals took place in Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 7, May. There were 18 matches in total. Shengjun “Lilghost” Luo, Zhanya “Xbei” Tu, Bo“The PUBG Global Partners Team”, consisting of xwudd” Wu and Lin“SuJiu” Yu, won 17 gaming victories over the Chinese teams. They took home $80,000 as prize money.

Acend, from EMEA, took 2nd place and Tianba Esports of China, 3rd. Other EMEA Teams Twisted Minds and Natus Vincere, as well as Turkish team HOWL, took 5th, 11th and 10th place respectively.
17Gaming had a slow start in PGS 1 but surprised their fans when they finished the Group Stage 19th and were relegated into the Losers Division. The team that climbed to top of the Losers Group with a balanced and overwhelming performance from the second match of the Grand Finals’ 2nd day, maintained their positions in the last minutes of the tournament despite the relatively quiet comeback.
Acend, who was also in the losers’ group, and qualified for the Grand Finals after using his last opportunity to advance to round four, found his own style in the Grand Finals. The team did not win a Soup Coin during the final three days of the tournament but they still earned a second place in the global PUBG esports scene. They had five podium victories and the highest score.
The Danawa esports leader “seoul”, has been awarded the MVP award for the PGS 1 Tournament. Danawa esports team leader “seoul”, who scored nearly two points per match and caused serious damage to his opponents, was awarded a well-deserved award for MVP.
KRAFTON announced the details for PUBG Global series 2 (PGS2), which will be held in the second half. Gamers8, the leading esports event in the world, will support PGS 2 which is set to take place from 10-20 August, Riyadh. In a similar fashion to PGS 1, top 24 teams will compete in this event for a prize pool totaling $2,000,000. PGS 2 is also the first global PUBG Esports tournament to feature an updated ruleset, with Taego added to the map pool among other changes.
